Finding Food Solutions

Food insecurity is not new in North Fulton. While data is difficult to track for adults, we know from school reporting that more than 8000 children in our community qualify for free or reduced meals. Our non-profit organizations share stories that are hard to imagine in an area with the wealth of North Fulton. Children who don’t have enough to eat when school isn’t in session. Family members taking turns for who gets dinner at night. Parents forced to choose between food and medicine.

At the same time, North Fulton is a highly philanthropic community, and is home to numerous non-profit organizations, in addition to faith-based support. They have stepped up their volumes and shifted their operations to try to meet the overwhelming needs that have come with the pandemic. Some new volunteer and business-based efforts have started as well.

The needs were increasing before the virus and business closures, and will surely be high for the foreseeable future. For those who need help or those who are in a position to give some, here are some options.
