What we do

We provide a look at the bigger picture of financial vulnerability in North Fulton through the collective lens of the region’s citizens, service providers, and employers.

  • We focus our impact on 5 areas (Workforce Housing, Income and Employment, Transportation, Child Well-Being, and Food Insecurity) that are closely interrelated, with work groups operating both independently and collaboratively.

  • We provide data, research, and real-life stories about the challenges that many in North Fulton face because of financial vulnerability.

  • We host events — workshops, panels, and learning opportunities — with subject matter experts to share information, advance discussions, and move toward solutions.

  • We form partnerships with local stakeholders and organizations and create networks of resources and service providers to advance work in each of our five focus areas.

What we’ve achieved

  • Hosted a virtual Community Summit for over 100 guests in February, 2024 to address the challenges relative to hiring and sustaining employees in the area of healthcare and education. Moderated by Lori Geary, the panelists included John Hunt of MarketNSight, Dr. Mike Looney of Fulton County Schools and Jon Paul Croom of Wellstar Health systems.

  • We are excited to announce our new podcast, North Fulton Voices. Thanks to the support from John Ray, of our local affiliate, Business Radio X, you will find open discussions by the NFIN leadership team of Jack Murphy, Nancy Diamond and Kathy Swahn with subject matter experts around the impact of missing middle housing or workforce housing in the community. We will shed light on the communities most affected and its impact on the economic development of our six North Fulton cities. We will also provide success stories that are tackling this most important topic. Join us at NorthFultonVoices.org

  • Successfully advocated for an additional MARTA bus line in 2018 for underserved areas.

  • Hosted a series of Fireside Chat events through Fall and Winter of 2020 with subject matter experts on Workforce Resilience, Commuting and Transportation, and the Value of Quality Childcare in the North Fulton area.

  • Hosted a Community Summit in November of 2019 to address financial vulnerability in North Fulton. Over 200 stakeholders attended, with speakers including Donna Beagle, Frank Fernandez, and Egbert Perry.

  • Developed working groups for each of our 5 focus areas, meeting regularly to advance strategic goals.

  • Inventoried and advertised details for area warming shelters and assisted in providing these services locally during winter of 2018.

  • Crafted a well-researched, strategic plan to create a homeless assessment center in North Fulton using best practices from world-class examples.

If you were unable to attend our previous Fireside Chat events, you can access a recording of them through our Youtube channel. Be sure to keep an eye on our Events page so you can attend the next one.
